Tribute & Message From The Family

LOWELL - Joseph Serge "Papa" Evangelista, age 65, a longtime resident of Lowell died unexpectedly Thursday, August 8, 2019 at his home. He was the beloved husband of Roberta "Bobbi-Jo" (Silvestri) Evangelista, to whom he was married for 39 years.

When I was just a teenager, Joe let me borrow a bass to audition for my first band and sold me my first bass which I still have to this day. He gave me advice about playing and getting my first bass amp. He let my band open for his and guided us on the ins and outs of playing clubs. Joe was instrumental in shaping me into a bass player and I thank him every day. Thank you Joe...RIP

I am still finding it hard to believe. Saying Prayers for the entire family. I remember playing in a band with Joe, Paul Hartford (RIP), SOB, and Bernie Nania back in the mid 70's and playing at the Labore Center. The Tribune wrote and published an article with all our names in the newspaper. I recently talked to Joe less than a year ago and we talked about getting together. Now I am so sorry and sad that we never got around to it. Joe, save a place for me when we meet again. You will forever be missed.

Joe's personality was only eclipsed by the size of his heart and by his generous nature.I only had the privilege to be in his company one time but on that occasion the love and kindness that he radiated toward his family and friends was truly infectious.Joe had a way of making people feel like they were returning home.I know that I certainly did. Well now you are home my friend and may you rest in POWER as our Heavenly Father welcomes you with open arms and infinite love. Until we meet again.
